1. What is the One-Stop Career Center?
One-Stop Career Centers are a single point-of-entry to services and programs that prepares individuals for employment. With the enactment of WIOA, the One-Stop Centers brings together various agencies and programs, known as core partners. The Santa Cruz County Workforce Development program, Santa Cruz County Continuing Education program, Department of Economic Security Employment Services and Department of Economic Security Vocational Rehabilitation & Veterans services.
2. What is WIOA?
President Barack Obama signed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
3. Which program are available through WIOA?
WIOA brings together, in strategic coordination, core programs in skill development: employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, and youth and Wagner-Peyser employment services. Adult Education and literacy programs that assist individuals obtain their high school equivalency diploma and Vocational Rehabilitation programs that assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment.
